This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft andesite with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.
In Minecraft, andesite is one of the many building blocks that you can make. There are two ways to add andesite to your inventory. You can either craft this item with a crafting table or mine it with a pickaxe.
Let’s explore how to add andesite to your inventory.

Required Materials to make Andesite
In Minecraft, these are the materials you can use to craft andesite:
1 Cobblestone 1 Diorite
How to craft Andesite in Survival Mode
1. Open the Crafting Menu
First, open your crafting table so that you have the 3×3 crafting grid that looks like this:
2. Add Items to make Andesite
In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3×3 crafting grid. To make andesite, place 1 diorite and 1 cobblestone in the 3×3 crafting grid.
When making andesite, it is important that the diorite and cobblestone are placed in the exact pattern as the image below. In the first row, there should be 1 diorite in the first box and 1 cobblestone in the second box. This is the Minecraft crafting recipe for andesite.
Now that you have filled the crafting area with the correct pattern, 2 andesite will appear in the box to the right.
3. Move the Andesite to Inventory
Once you have crafted andesite, you need to move the new items to your inventory.
Congratulations, you have made andesite in Minecraft!
How to mine Andesite in Survival Mode
You can also add andesite to your inventory in Survival mode by mining andesite. So, let’s get started!
1. Find a Block of Andesite
First, you need to find a block of andesite to dig up. You can find andesite anywhere, but we are going to look for andesite by digging into the side of a mountain.
2. Hold a Pickaxe
To mine andesite, you need to dig up the andesite with a pickaxe. These are the pickaxes you can choose from.
How to make a Diamond Pickaxe How to make a Golden Pickaxe How to make a Iron Pickaxe How to make a Stone Pickaxe How to make a Wooden Pickaxe How to make a Netherite Pickaxe
If you try to dig up the andesite with your hand or other tool (that is not a pickaxe), the small block of andesite will not appear. And you will not be able to add the andesite to your inventory.
In this example, we are going to use a diamond pickaxe to dig up the andesite.
3. Mine the Andesite
The game control to mine the andesite depends on the version of Minecraft:
For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the block of andesite.
For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the block of andesite.
For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
For PS3 and PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
For Wii U, press and hold the ZR button on the gamepad.
For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the block of andesite.
For Education Edition, left click and hold on the block of andesite.
You will need to continue to dig until the block breaks and a smaller block of andesite finally appears. The block of andesite will float on the ground.
4. Pick up the Andesite
Make sure you pick up the andesite before it disappears.
Once you pick up the andesite, it will appear in your hotbar.
Andesite is a useful item and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.
