Whether it be to rename an item, apply an enchantment onto a tool or weapon, or to combine two enchantment books, using anvils in Minecraft costs you XP. But sometimes, reversing the order of their items to be combined in the anvil slots, can save you a lot of XP. This is because, according to Minecraft’s code a higher ranking enchantment in the first slot may cost you more XP to be combined with a cheaper enchantment in the second. By simply swapping the position of these enchantment books, you will be able to get the same result at the cost of less XP. Anvil Swapper Mod (1.21.1, 1.20.1) adds a swap button into the anvil GUI that will glow if it is possible to swap the position of the items in the anvil to perform the same item combining for a lower amount of XP. Simply pressing the glowing button will let the mod swap the item positions for you.
