An armadillo is a passive mob found in badlands and savannas. It curls up into its shell in response to undead mobs and sprinting or mounted players, and repels spiders and cave spiders away from it (Java Edition only). It is the only source of armadillo scutes, which drop from it over time, or when brushed.

Hostility Level (Passive)
The term mob is short for mobile and is used to refer to all living, moving creatures in the game such as chickens, creepers, and allays. Because an allay is a passive mob, it will never attack you in the game (Creative or Survival mode).
An unenchanted brush has enough durability to obtain 4 (Java Edition)/5 (Bedrock Edition) armadillo scutes.
Spawning
Armadillos spawn in groups of two to three in savannas, savanna plateaus, and windswept savannas and groups of one to two in badlands, eroded badlands, and wooded badlands.

Behavior
Breeding
Armadillos will follow players holding spider eyes within 10 (Java Edition)/16 (Bedrock Edition) blocks.
A player can breed armadillos by using spider eyes on two of them. Baby armadillos take 20 minutes to grow up into adults. Feeding a spider eye once can reduce growth time by 10%.
Upon successful breeding, 1–7 experience orbs is dropped.
