This Minecraft tutorial explains all about axolotls with screenshots and step-by-step instructions. Let’s learn about axolotls in Minecraft.

Background

There are 5 different variants of axolotl in Minecraft – pink, brown, gold, light blue, and blue.

The following is a picture of what an axolotl looks like in Minecraft (in this example, the axolotl is Variant 0 which is the pink one):

Hostility Level Passive Mob
Health Points 14 health points
 x 7
Where to Find In the Lush Caves biome
Weapon None
Attack Method Will never attack you
Drops None
Experience Points 1-3 experience points

Hostility Level (Passive)

An axolotl is a passive mob. The term mob is short for mobile and is used to refer to all living, moving creatures in the game such as chickens, creepers, and axolotls. Because an axolotl is a passive mob, it will never attack you in the game (Creative or Survival mode).

Health Points

In Minecraft, an axolotl has 7 hearts  for health. This gives an axolotl 14 health points (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill an axolotl, you need to inflict 14 points of damage to the axolotl.

Where to Find Axolotls

In Minecraft, you can find axolotls in the Lush Caves biome.

If you are having trouble finding an axolotl, you can summon an axolotl using a cheat or you can use a spawn egg.

Weapon

An axolotl does not carry a weapon.

Attack Method

You are safe to walk near an axolotl and it will not attack or cause you any damage. And if you attack an axolotl, it will just stay there. It will not attack you back.

Drops

When you kill an axolotl in Minecraft, it will not drop anything. It is one of the few mobs that when killed, does not drop any items.

Experience Points

As you play the game, you will gain experience. The most common way to gain experience is by killing mobs. When a mob is killed you will see tiny green and yellow balls appear and move towards you.

These orbs represent experience points. When you kill an axolotl, you will gain 1-3 experience points.
