This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft a birch log with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.
In Minecraft, a birch log is an item that you can not make with a crafting table or furnace. Instead, you need to find and gather this item in the game.

How to get a Birch Log in Survival Mode
You can add a birch log to your inventory in Survival mode by chopping down a birch tree. So, let’s get started!
1. Find a Birch Tree
First, you need to find a birch tree in your Minecraft world. Birch trees are usually found in the Forest biome.
2. Hold an Axe
Although you can use your hand to chop down a birch tree, we prefer to use a tool such as an axe. These are the axes you can choose from.

In this example, we are going to use a diamond axe because it is a faster tool to chop down a birch tree.
3. Chop the Tree Trunk
The game control to chop down the tree trunk depends on the version of Minecraft:
For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the birch tree.
For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the birch tree.
For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
For PS3 and PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
For Wii U, press and hold the ZR button on the gamepad.
For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the birch tree.
For Education Edition, left click and hold on the birch tree.
You will need to continue to chop until a small birch log finally appears.
4. Pick up the Birch Log
Make sure you pick up the birch log before it disappears.
Once you pick up the birch log, it will appear in your hotbar.
A birch log is a useful item and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.
