Whether it be day one or day thousand, the amount of XP that you earn from killing hostile mobs is gonna remain the same regardless of the level of progression you have achieved in the game. This means, once you have reached the end game, killing mobs becomes pointless. It is simply not worth your time. Bonus XP Mod (1.20.1, 1.18.2) is here to improve this aspect of the game. This mod introduces a new enchantment called “Bonus XP”. This enchantment comes in five levels and can only be applied to a sword. Depending on the enchantment level, there will be an increase in the number of XP orbs dropped by a mob that is killed using the sword.
