Bumblezone Mod (1.21.1, 1.20.1) – Dimension Made Out of A Honeycombs
Bumblezone Mod (1.21.1, 1.20.1) is a mod for Minecraft that adds a bee-themed dimension filled with new bee-related blocks! You’ll discover many structures to explore and even obtain unique bee armor. If you’re lucky, you might find the Throne Localization Compass hidden in some structures, leading you to a Queen Bee. This dimension resembles the inside of a beehive, with immense walls lined up and separated by water channels. You might also find a pollen-covered zone or a canyon filled with huge honey-based crystals.
Features:
Achievements
- 126 new achievements teach you many aspects of The Bumblezone! These achievements guide you through the mod. There’s even a “The Queen’s Desire” achievement line that acts like a repeatable quest for rewards!
- Even if you start a new world, The Bumblezone’s achievement tab will always be visible, and achievements on how to enter the dimension will always be displayed. When you approach a hive/beehive, you’ll receive a message inviting you to check out The Bumblezone achievements, visible only to you. This chat message can be disabled with the enableInitialWelcomeMessage configuration option.
Entering and Exiting the Bumblezone Dimension
- Enter the dimension by throwing an Enderpearl at a Bee Hive/Nest or being pushed into a Hive/Nest by a Piston. Any vehicle or mount you’re on when pushed into a hive will also be teleported with you into the dimension!
- Exit the dimension by digging below y = 0 or above y = 255. This works with any entity, and you can be on any vehicle. You will be kept safe in place while the game loads the destination point outside the dimension.
Bee Behaviors in The Bumblezone Dimension
Feeding the Bees
- Bees can be fed with Bottles of Sugar Water and various honey-based foods (like honey bottles) to heal them and potentially grant you the Hive Protection effect. (You can also feed Honeycomb Brood Blocks for a chance to get the Protection effect!) This Protection effect will remove the Hive Anger effect if you have it.
- Feeding bees with a Bottle of Sugar Water has a 7% chance of granting you the Hive Protection effect.
- Feeding the bee a Bottle of Honey instead has a 30% chance of granting you the Hive Protection effect.
- Feeding a bee with a Bucket of Honey fully heals it and puts it and surrounding bees into love mode (with an 80% chance of granting you the Hive Protection effect). Feeding a Bucket of Honey to a baby bee fully heals it and has a chance of growing it into an adult bee.
- The Royal Jelly Bottle and Bucket also fully heal bees, grow baby bees into adults, and always grant you the Hive Protection effect.
Getting the Hive Protection Effect
- When you have the Hive Protection effect, nearby bees will attack anyone who attacked you!
- Any mob or player damaging a Bee or the Queen Bee in The Bumblezone dimension will get the Hive Anger effect and a horde of angry bees chasing them. The same applies to destroying a Honeycomb Brood Block without Silk Touch.
- If the player has Hive Protection, the protection effect is lost and prevents the player from getting Hive Anger for their action. A one-time buffer against accidentally hurting bees.
- Mining Translucent Honey Blocks or taking honey from a Filled Porous Honeycomb Block (using a Glass Bottle on it) will give you the Hive Anger effect. Entering a Cell Maze structure will also give you the effect.
- If you have the Hive Protection effect (temporary) or consumed an Essence of the Bees item (permanent), you will no longer get the anger effect from the three mentioned triggers! The Hive Protection effect remains active. (Information on the Essence of the Bees item can be found in the items section)
- (1.20+) Wearing a Flower Crown will prevent the Cell Maze from giving you the Hive Anger effect! This item will also make the Hive Anger effect from other sources dissipate faster!
Experiencing Hive Anger:
Experiencing the Hive Anger effect will transform the dimension’s fog to red, play Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumblebee”, cause bees to spawn from Honeycomb Brood Blocks much faster, and increase the number of bees in the dimension to hunt you down! Prepare your Bane of Arthropods sword!
- Non-Bee Arthropods, Pandas, and Bears: Any arthropod mob without “bee” in its name, as well as pandas and bears, will receive a weaker version of Hive Anger, causing nearby bees to attack them in the Bumblezone dimension.
Interacting with Bees:
- Right-Click on Pollinated Bees: Holding a Bottle of Water, a Bottle of Sugar Water, a Water Bucket, or a Wet Sponge will dust off the bee and drop a Pollen Puff item. Holding a Bee Sting item and right-clicking on a bee without a sting will give it a sting!
Biomes of the Bumblezone Dimension:
- Hive Wall/Pillar:
- Steep walls and pillars of honeycombs form the main shape of the Bumblezone dimension. They align along the X-axis, making travel along this axis easy but travel along the Z-axis tricky. Use this terrain to your advantage!
- Walls contain many large Honeycomb Holes that may house Honey Blocks with Brood Blocks inside!
- Spiders/Cave Spiders can naturally spawn in this biome.
- Sugar Water Floor:
- Forms channels between Hive Wall biomes to shape the main structure of the Bumblezone! These channels align along the X-axis, facilitating easy travel, whereas travel along the Z-axis is more difficult. Use this terrain to your advantage!
- Ideal for boat travel and provides clear space for flying through.
- Pollinated Fields/Pillars:
- Scattered throughout the dimension, with gigantic Pollinated Pillars surrounded by a ring of Pollinated Fields.
- Densely filled with Pollen Heap blocks, making it a great resource for Pollen Puffs.
- Spiders/Cave Spiders can naturally spawn in the Pollinated Pillar biome.
- Crystal Canyon:
- Sometimes replaces the Sugar Water Floor biome between Hive Wall biomes, or appears as a large blob in the world, even replacing Hive Walls.
- Extremely dense with Glowing Honey Crystal blocks forming massive peaks! A significant source of Honey Crystal Shards. Additionally, Honey Crystal blocks and Sticky Honey Residue appear much more frequently.
- The biome’s floor is made of Carvable Wax, providing a good source for obtaining a lot of Carvable Wax.
- Increased spawn rate of Honey Slimes.
- Floral Prairie (1.20+):
- A rare blob biome appearing in the dimension.
- Filled with various vanilla flowers, large cherry trees, and many Veteran Cherry Tree structures. Carvable Wax forms winding paths in this biome.
- Rootmins naturally spawn in this biome. Increased rates of Beehemoth and Variant Bees.
Screaming Structures (1.20+)
- Rare Blob Appearance: Appears as rare blobs in the Bumblezone dimension. Being in this biome generates wind particles and plays windy sounds.
- Parkour Fun: Filled with Floater constructions creating a fun parkour area for small loot!
- Giant Spikes: The biome’s roof and floor are covered with giant spikes made of Sugar-Infused Cobblestone/Stone, Carvable Wax, Filled/Empty Porous Honeycomb Blocks, and Honeycombs.
- Adjusted Mob Rates: Decreased spawn rates for Beehemoth, Honey Slime, and Slime; increased spawn rates for Variant Bees, Endermen, and Phantoms.
Structures
- Cell Maze:
- Location: Found throughout the dimension just above sea level; easily locatable by right-clicking in the air with an unenchanted Honey Compass.
- Loot: Filled with many Bumblezone blocks and items, including tons of Honey Cocoon blocks containing loot! Hidden in this structure is a new bee armor with a special effect!
- Protection Required: Entering without the Hive Protection effect or having consumed Essence of the Bees will result in the Hive Anger effect. Keep feeding the bees and brood blocks to maintain the protection!
- Special Compass: Hidden within Honey Cocoon blocks is a special Honey Compass that can locate the nearest Throne Pillar structure! This special compass will be named “Honey Compass – Throne Pillar!” Generally, Honey Cocoons have a very low chance of containing this special compass, except for mannequin rooms which increase the chance of finding it. (In version 1.20+, the central room of the Cell Maze always contains a Throne Compass 100% of the time.)
- Throne Pillar:
- Rarity: Rarely appears throughout the dimension, locatable with a special Honey Compass found in the Cell Maze structure.
- Queen Bee: A Queen Bee resides within this structure, ready to trade with you!
- Extraction Fatigue: Entering near a Queen Bee grants Extraction Fatigue unless you’ve consumed Essence of the Bees.
- Eternal Sanctuaries (1.20+):
- Endgame Structure: Massive endgame structure in 6 colors: red, yellow, green, blue, purple, and white! Best entered after completing The Queen’s Desire achievement line and consuming Essence of the Bees.

- Rootmin Garden: At the top, a garden with patrolling Rootmins and flowers matching the structure’s color. The central hole leads to a deadly maze filled with Sentinels and great loot!
- Arena Event: Reaching the central heart reveals an impressive room with a colored Essence Block. Touching it triggers an arena event! Each sanctuary has a unique event and endgame reward item. The events can be very challenging, so come prepared!
- Repeatable Events: By default, events can be repeated after winning. Set repeatableEssenceEvents to false in the config to disable repeating events.
- Endgame Items: Obtainable items from each sanctuary:
- Essence of Rage (red)
- Essence of Radiance (yellow)
- Essence of Life (green)
- Essence of Calm (blue)
- Essence of Knowledge (purple)
- Essence of Continuity (white)

Pollinated Watercourses
- Description: A common structure that appears on the surface of Pollinated Fields and Pollinated Pillars biomes. But in the captain’s cabin, you’ll find they have a very nice little stash of gold! And in the ship’s belly is a Honey Compass pointing to another structure!
- Location: Only found in the Sugar Water Canal biome.
Dance Floor

Honey Fountain
- Description: Make a wish in this small fountain that appears around sea level for the dimension! Dive your gaze into the fountain, and you might see something shining!
- Loot: Contains a hidden Crystalline Flower.
Honey Grotto Hall
- Description: Difficult to find but a common structure that appears in all biomes of the Bumblezone. It is a medium-sized cave-like hall with 2 Beehemoths inside, a few Honey Cocoons, and Honey Liquid. Otherwise, it’s mostly just a small hidden decorative structure.
Veteran Cherry Tree (1.20+)
- Description: A gigantic Cherry Tree that has survived for centuries! Appears only in the Floral Prairie biomes.
- Hive Presence: Occasionally, this tree may have a large hive at its base.
Bee Dungeons
- Location: Can be found in caves throughout the Bumblezone.
- Contents: Filled with Honey Crystal Blocks, Sugar Water, and lit Candles! It also has many Honey Brood Blocks and potentially a Honey Cocoon block with items inside!
Spider-Infested Bee Dungeons
- Rarity: Can rarely be found in caves throughout the Bumblezone. Much harder to find than regular Bee Dungeons.
- Contents: Filled with Honey Crystal Blocks, extinguished Candles, Empty Honey Brood Blocks, Cobwebs, Spider Spawners, and Cave Spider Spawners. It may also have a Honey Cocoon block with items inside. These dungeons can make excellent XP, spider eye, and string farms!
Tree Dungeons (1.20+)
- Location: Can be found in caves in Hive Wall, Hive Pillar, and Pollinated Pillar biomes.
- Description: Small decorative roots with a Cherry Tree, flowers, and a few Honey Cocoons with a little loot! There are also 3 hidden Rootmins here…

- Contents: Intact floating discs come in a variety of colors for their Luminous Wax blocks and may also have a Honey Cocoon in the center with a bit of loot. Crashed ones never have loot.
- Mystery: As magical as these Floaters may appear, their history is even more mysterious…

- Location: These small pillars can sometimes be found in the Floral Prairie and Crystal Canyon biomes!
- Contents:
- In the Floral Prairie biome, the Gear Column contains 4 different colored Flower Headdresses!
- In the Crystal Canyon biome, the Gear Column contains 2 Crystal Cannons and 2 Bee Cannons!
Creatures
Honey Slime
- Behavior: Honey Slimes will appear in The Bumblezone and sometimes from Honey Brood Blocks. They are passive mobs until hit. Once struck, they will chase you for a while! If killed, nearby Honey Slimes will become aggressive towards you.
- Interaction: Using a Glass Bottle on a Honey Slime will give you a Honey Bottle but will make the Honey Slime angry! They will return to their honey state over time, which can be sped up by passing them over Honey, Filled Porous Honey, Sticky Honey Residue, Red Sticky Honey, or Honey Brood Blocks.
- Breeding: They can be lured with Sugar and bred with other Honey Slime mobs. Some raw sugar items from mods can also be used! Refer to or modify the
the_bumblezone:mob_luring/honey_slime
item tag that controls what Honey Slimes like. - Transformation: Using a Honey Block or a Honey Bucket on a vanilla small or medium Slime mob will transform them into passive Honey Slimes! Making Honey Slimes available outside of The Bumblezone dimension!
- Dividing: If an adult is killed, it will split into 2 to 4 baby Honey Slimes! If an adult had already collected honey, then it will split into 2 to 4 small normal Slimes when killed. Nearby Honey Slimes will always be angry at you for dividing the adult Honey Slime.
- Fall Damage: When covered in honey, they can fall from greater heights and take little to no damage! (In version 1.20+, they are now fully immune to fall damage like Magma Cubes, regardless of their honey state.)
Rootmin (1.20+)
- Description: A hostile mob that disguises itself as a Grass Block with a flower on top and is often found in the Floral Prairie biome or certain structures.
- Behavior: If a player or spider is nearby, the Rootmin will emerge and shoot Dirt Pellets at them. If the player has at least 1 piece of bee armor equipped or 1 bee-themed trinket, the Rootmin will not attack and may curiously approach the player to inspect them! Essentially a passive mob for players wearing bee items unless attacked.
- Interaction: Players can right-click on this mob with another flower to swap the flower on its head or give it a name tag!
- Fears: Rootmins fear Iron Golems, Blazes, Wither, and Warden to the point they will try to flee if too close to these mobs!
Variant Bee (1.20+)
- Description: A mob that behaves exactly like the vanilla Bee but has different skins! There are currently 15 skins.
- Customization: As a custom mob, variant types are exposed by a “variant” tag in their NBT, allowing pack makers to detect which variant a player is interacting with.
Beehemoth
- Taming: Beehemoths can be tamed with items like Honey Buckets or Honey Bottles and other honey/sugar water items.
- Behavior: They will only follow you if you hold Honey Bucket items. Feeding them can eventually tame them, allowing you to saddle and ride them!
- Follow: If tamed, the Beehemoth will only follow its owner if holding a Honey Bucket, as the two are now linked! In fact, tamed Beehemoths will stop sitting and swiftly fly towards their owners holding Honey Buckets up to 200 blocks away, even without line of sight!
- Flying Controls: While riding a Beehemoth, hold the spacebar to fly up and the Caps Lock key to fly down! The keys can be changed in the Options -> Controls -> Keybinds menu.
- Friendship: The more you feed and ride them, the more friendship points they gain, making them faster. Once friendship is at maximum, Beehemoth becomes a Queen Beehemoth and can fly at maximum speed! However, friendship will decrease if Beehemoth takes damage from any source, and if all friendship is lost, they become discontented and will refuse to let you ride them until friendship is regained.
- Friendship Points: Reaching Queen status requires 1000 friendship points. Feeding with a Honey Bucket or Bee Bread gives 5 points. Items named honey give 3 points, and any other bee-feeding item gives 1 point. Riding Beehemoth and moving for one minute gives about 10 points during that time. Each point of damage taken by Beehemoth reduces friendship by the same amount. If the player directly hurts Beehemoth, friendship decreases by three times the damage taken.
- Royal Jelly: Feeding them a Royal Jelly Bottle gives 250 friendship points, and a Royal Jelly Bucket gives a full 1000 points! Both provide a strong, long-lasting Beenergized effect to Beehemoth, with the bucket giving over an hour of time!
- Spawning: These cool giant bees can rarely be found in The Bumblezone from natural mob spawning, but several structures in the dimension contain non-despawnable Beehemoths.
- Immunity: Immune to damage/slow effects from Sweet Berry Bush thorns like regular Bees.
Queen Bee
- Description: A huge passive bee that wants to trade! Right-click while holding items or drop items in front of the Queen Bee to trade. Try trading various items to see what type of items you can receive based on what you give!
- Trading Bonus System: The Queen Bee will also select a tradable item and inform any nearby player that she wants this item for the next 20 minutes. If the player trades this item with the queen, they receive 3 times the reward and XP! They can do this up to 24 times before the Queen is satisfied and the Trading Bonus is exhausted until the 20 minutes are up. Then, the Queen selects a new item for the Trading Bonus!
- Special Trading Days: On certain days of the year, the Trading Bonus system will be disabled, and the Queen Bee will ask for specific items to make special trades just for those days! Normal trades with other items can still be done during this time. These special hidden trades do not appear in recipe viewers.
- Advancement Line: Upon the first successful trade, you will receive The Queen’s Desires advancement line that gives a Royal Jelly Bottle reward for each completed advancement. After completing the entire advancement line, you obtain the Essence of the Bees!
- Replayable Quest: After completing the advancement line, visit the Queen Bee and right-click to reset this advancement line and try again for the same rewards! It’s like a replayable quest!
- Location: Found only in the Throne Pillar structure. You can find Throne Pillars by obtaining a special Honey Compass from Cell Maze, Battle Cubes, or Honitel structures. This type of Honey Compass will indicate it is locked onto the nearest Throne Pillar structure.
- Behavior: Cannot be pushed by entities and remains calm until struck. When angry, she spawns bees over time to attack and has a very short melee attack. Guess all that honey made her too lethargic to be a threat!
Guardian Sentinel (1.20+)
- Description: A large indestructible and invulnerable magical statue made of Ancient Wax often guarding the Eternal Sanctums.
- Behavior: If a non-bee mob crosses the statue’s field of vision, the statue will rush forward, breaking through weak blocks in its path to annihilate the trespasser! The faster the statue strikes the mob, the more damage is inflicted!
- Bee Armor: Wearing Bee Armor or Bee-themed Curios/Jewels will also reduce some of the damage from the Guardian Sentinel.
Cosmic Crystal Entity (1.20+)
- Description: A powerful magical energy boss found in the White Eternal Sanctum structure event! Six will appear around the Essence block and fight you!
- Health: Each crystal has 60 health points by default, but this can be changed with the
cosmicCrystalHealth
config option. - Damage Cap: Damage inflicted on this boss is generally capped at 1. If the damage would exceed 29 or is direct (physical melee) and over 10, then it is capped at 2. Status effects like Poison or Wither are also shortened to only deal 1 or 2 damage hits to the crystals. This makes the fight very challenging with six crystals to take down!
- Battle Strategy: If you’re stuck trying to defeat this boss, the secret is to use a high-rate fire/hit weapon that can inflict harmful status effects. Bonus if you can hit multiple crystals at once! This means a Flame Bow with Poison Arrows is an excellent weapon of choice. A Quick Charge Multishot Crossbow with Poison Arrows is even better!
- Crystal Attacks: Beware of crystal attacks as damage will pass through armor, shields, effects, enchantments, and resistance! Laser attacks will remove 1/4 of a player’s Maximum Health or Current Health (whichever is greater). Physical crystal attacks will remove 1/6 of a player’s health.
- Attack Patterns: There are 6 attacks that the crystals can perform, and they will randomly choose which to use throughout the fight!
- Ramming Attack: The crystals rise and then ram the player, causing a large explosion at the impact site. Keep running around the arena’s edge to avoid being blown up!
- Spinning Charge: Each crystal takes its turn to spin like a top and try to rush the player. Due to the delay in their ability to follow the player, running in small circles around the crystals will make dodging easier! This takes practice to perfect running around the crystals.
- Vertical Laser: Crystals shoot a laser downwards and begin moving in a spiral around the arena. Take note of areas where the lasers can’t reach!
- Horizontal Laser: Crystals move to the side to shoot a laser outward from the center of the room. Flying won’t help much as the crystal will move up and down to try and match your height. Spot a safe area where you can stand to avoid these lasers!
- Sweep Laser: Spinning and shooting lasers simultaneously, the crystal makes full sweeps of the room. This is the trickiest laser attack to dodge but keep an eye on the laser and dodge them when you can!
- Tracking Laser: Aiming at your feet, the crystals will fire a laser at your feet! There is a delay in their tracking ability, so keep running around the room’s edge to avoid this laser attack!
Enchantments
There are 3 additional enchantments you can use:
Honeycomb Cutter
- Applicable to: Swords and Shears
- Single Level: Allows the tool to mine all honeycomb-based blocks extremely quickly! It also mines wax, hives, and nests a bit faster.
- Production Boost: Doubles the Honeycomb yield from Hives and Bee Nests.
Potent Poison
- Applicable to: All trident-like items, including the Stinger Lance. (Maximum enchantment level is 3)
- Effect: When the weapon hits a non-undead mob, it inflicts a strong poison effect.
- Enchantment Levels: Higher levels increase the duration, and at level 3, intensify the poison effect. The poison levels and duration are more significant on the Stinger Lance than on any other item.
Neurotoxins
- Applicable to: Stinger Lance only.
- Maximum Enchantment Level: 2 in version 1.19.2, increased to 3 in version 1.20.1 and later.
- Effect: Gives the weapon a chance to cause Paralysis on non-undead mobs for 5 seconds per enchantment level.
- Chance Mechanics: The chance of paralysis decreases if the mob has more remaining health, with a minimum chance of 10%. Each hit that doesn’t cause paralysis increases the probability that the next hit will.
New Status Effects
Hive Protection
- How to Obtain: Obtained by feeding bees or Honey Brood Blocks with any item tagged
the_bumblezone:bee_feedable_items
. However, hitting a bee or destroying a Honey Brood Block will remove the Hive Protection effect.- Feeding bees or brood blocks with a Bottle of Sugar Water has a 7% chance of granting Hive Protection.
- Feeding bees or brood blocks with a Bottle of Honey has a 30% chance of granting Hive Protection.
- Feeding bees or brood blocks with a Honey Bucket has an 80% chance of granting Hive Protection.
- Feeding bees or brood blocks with a Royal Jelly Bottle or Royal Jelly Bucket will always grant Hive Protection.
- Other bee-feedable tagged items have a 10% chance of granting Hive Protection, unless they contain “honey” in their name, which gives them a 20% chance.
- Calming Effect: This effect calms all angry bees to the entity that obtained Hive Protection.
- Defensive Mechanism: If a protected entity is hit by another mob, all bees will attack the aggressor.
- Anger Prevention: Prevents players from gaining Hive Anger from certain actions (Hive Protection will not be lost):
- Allows mining of Translucent Honey Blocks.
- Permits harvesting honey from Filled Honeycomb Blocks with a Glass Bottle.
- Prevents the Cell Maze structure from inflicting Hive Anger on the protected player.
- Losing Protection: Hive Protection is lost from the following actions (you will not gain Hive Anger if Protection is just removed. A one-time buffer against gaining Anger for accidentally hurting bees):
- Hitting a Bee (Beehemoth will not give Anger unless configured otherwise).
- Hitting the Queen Bee.
- Breaking a Honey Brood Block without Silk Touch.
Hive Anger
- How to Obtain: This Anger effect is obtained if you perform the following actions without the Hive Protection effect (temporary effect) or if you haven’t consumed Essence of the Bees (see Essence of the Bees item in the items section for more information):
- Extracting honey from a Filled Porous Honeycomb Block with a Glass Bottle.
- Mining the Translucent Honey Block.
- Entering the Cell Maze structure (wearing a Flower Crown prevents Cell Maze Anger).
- Always Triggers Anger (Hive Protection will be removed and stop Anger as a one-time buffer):
- Hitting a Bee (Beehemoth will not give Anger unless configured otherwise).
- Hitting the Queen Bee.
- Breaking a Honey Brood Block without Silk Touch.
- Effects:
- Anger makes all nearby bees aggressive towards the entity and grants the bees numerous effects that make them stronger and more hostile!
- The Bumblezone Dimension will turn red and Rimsky Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumblebee” will start playing!
- Nearby Honey Brood Blocks will begin to grow rapidly and spawn bees faster!
Energized
- How to Obtain: Obtained by consuming Bee Bread or using Essence of the Bees and then entering Royal Jelly Fluid.
- Effects: Increases the flight speed of flying mobs it’s applied to.
- Players with a Bumble Bee Chestplate will receive increased flight speed and extended flight duration.
Hidden
- How to Obtain: The effect is given when hiding in deep stacks of Pollen Blocks. It is essentially an Invisibility effect with mob detection without making the mob invisible.
- When the Pollen Pile covers up to just below the mob’s eyes, they gain Hidden 1, making them undetectable by other mobs until these other mobs are hit or touched. (If the hidden mob/player has already been seen by a mob, the viewing mobs will still attack the hidden mob/player).
- When the Pollen Pile covers the mob’s eyes, they gain Hidden 2, making them lose the track of the hidden mob to swarms of angry bees!
Paralyzed
- How to Obtain: Obtained when struck by a weapon with the Neurotoxins enchantment.
- Effects: Renders the mob immobile, generally disabling the mob’s AI and movements. Some mobs may still resist the effect and perform actions such as Witches drinking potions.
