Does Potato Tick? Mod (1.20.1, 1.19.2) prioritizes the performance of the server, which means that it may incorporate a wide variety of fixes that we’ve introduced while doing performance testing, rework its codes, remove some features that are incompatible with one another, and still maintain its fundamental capabilities. If a creature is situated beyond a reasonable distance from the player, it will cease to tick. There is a whitelist for entities located in the configuration, and if you write the name of the entity’s registry key in that whitelist, the tick restriction will not be applied to that particular category of entities. Entities that are by default already incorporated in the code and for which this feature will not have any effect but are nevertheless included here: See here. In addition, the “too far away from the player” distance can be modified in the configuration settings. Limit the tick speed of dropped things in the environment; in the view of the player, they will appear a little stuttering; nevertheless, behind the visual stuttering is the performance improvement (this is turned off by default since some factors affect the experience of playing the game; you will need to open it manually). There is an item list within the configuration, and if you write the registry name of the item entity within it, the tick restriction will not be in force for the type of item entity that you have written in the item list.
