The intended way to enchant tools and weapons is by making use of enchantment tables. But the way the vanilla game is designed, enchantment tables are terrible at their intended use. The same can be said for anvils, which are supposed to be used to repair tools and weapons. The ability to obtain enchantment books via villager trading and the use of mending enchantment to repair tools with ease, makes enchantment tables and anvils less preferred by players, as the later methods are easier. Enchant & Repair Mod (1.20.1, 1.19.2) aims to bring a balance to these aspects of the game by slightly adjusting how some game features work. The mod aims to make the intended methods more preferable by nerfing the overpowered methods.

  • Using tools and weapons infinitely should be possible, but repairing them should be done by using some of the base material used to craft them.
  • Experience points are meant to showcase a player’s in-game progression, and not to repair gear.
  • Anvils are intended to be used for repairing items, and not to enchant.
  • High tier gear should be hard to obtain, but relatively easier to repair.
  • Powerful enchantment books should be rare and reusable to some degree.
