Falling Meteors Mod 1.7.10 (Destruction from the Sky)
Falling Meteors Mod 1.7.10 adds different types of meteors that will randomly fall from the sky, including various resources with them. Resources that can be used to craft new tools, armor, and blocks that have their own unique uses.
This mod adds meteors that fall down from the sky. With these meteors come various types of minerals and ores to create new weapons, tools, and armor from. Also adds new tools for tracking down meteors as well as blocking them from falling on to your creations.
Features:
- Meteors Fall to the ground and explode, forming craters that house various minerals from space.
- New Tools that give different properties: Magnetization, slowing enemies, burning enemies, mining underwater faster, etc.
- New Armor Sets that give you different abilities: Magnetization, walking on water, immunity to fire, etc.
- Mine all the minerals from the craters as quick as possible because the debris from the crash will cool, giving less minerals.
- Protect your precious creations with Meteor Shields that can be fully upgraded to protect a huge area of land.
- Varying sizes and types of Meteors.
- Craft Detectors to find out WHERE a meteor is going to land.
- Craft a Meteor Timer to determine WHEN a meteor is going to land.
- Freeze blocks using the Freezer as well as craft ice, packed ice, and more.
- Summon meteors down onto your friends with Meteor Summoners.
- Obtain an adorable Comet Kitty as a pet.
- Configure the mod to your liking with many configuration options.
- Fully SMP compatible.
- Multilingual.
Falling Meteors:
- Based upon how you have configured the mod, Meteors will fall randomly from the sky. Based on default configuration, it will take about 3 to 5 days for a meteor to fall. Meteors, however, will not fall too far away from you. When a meteor’s fall location is determined it is based off of a player’s location (on a server, it picks a random player to base this off of). By default, it will fall anywhere between 0 and 250 blocks away from the player’s position.
- Once a Meteor has fallen, it is in your player’s best interest to go after that meteor wherever it may have fallen. If the meteor was close enough to where the chunk was loaded, the meteor will hit the ground and begin cooling. The cooler the blocks get at the crash site, the less materials you get from them.
- You can use the Meteor Detectors to help track these meteors so you don’t miss an opportunity to get resources from the crash sites:
- Meteor Proximity Detector
- Meteor Time Detector
- Meteor Crash Detector
- You can also use a Meteor Timer block to know when a meteor is about to fall.
Meteorite Meteor:
- The Meteorite Meteor is the most common kind of meteor that you will come across. The crash site will be filled mostly with Meteorite Meteor blocks, but the crash site can also be accompanied by an Alien Creeper or two.
- NOTE: Alien Creepers can spawn from the meteor blocks on a rare occassion so don’t think you are safe once all the Alien Creepers around the site have been killed.
- The most abundant resources you will gather from the crash site are meteor chips. Meteor chips are what allow you to craft the Meteorite Armor. Meteor Chips can also be dropped when the Meteor blocks are cool. You only get them about half the time though so it is not as good as mining them when they are hot.
- The second resource you can gather from this crash site is Red Meteor Gems. They are dropped by the Alien Creepers and can be found in a Meteor Block on a rare occassion. Note that you must mine the block when it is hot in order to get the Red Meteor Gem(s) from the block or else you’ll get nothing.
Frezarite Meteor:
- The Frezarite Meteor is the second most common meteor you will encounter. The crash site will have frezarite ore scattered about along with ice and some water. There will not be any mobs that hang around this crash site.
- The Frezarite meteor is considered the worst griefing meteor of them all due to how the frezarite blocks will actually melt and cause water to flow everywhere! This can be remedied by living in a cold biome which would keep the frezarite blocks and ice from melting.
- All you will be able to gather from this meteor will be the Frezarite Crystals. Frezarite Crystals are used to craft an armor set and tools that are especially designed to help when dealing with water. The tools allow you to break blocks quicker underwater and the armor enables the ability to walk on water with the Cold Touch enchantment which freezes the water underneath your feet as you walk.
Kreknorite Meteor:
- The Kreknorite Meteor is an uncommon meteor that is extremely devastating to your land if not destroyed quickly. This meteor is rarer than the Frezarite Meteor which is rarer than the Meteorite Meteor. Blazes will occassionally spawn with this meteor. When the meteor is medium or large sized (by default), a portal to the nether will form above the crash site. The portal structure will include some nether brick blocks and some glowstone on its ceiling.
- When the kreknorite ore in the crash site cools, it turns into obsidian which is the reason why this meteor can be extremely devastating to your environment.
- Kreknorite ore is your primary resource to be gathered at the crash site. The Kreknorite Chips can be used to craft a very strong set of armor that grants you complete immunity to fire/lava when wearing the complete set. You can also craft a decently strong sword with Fire Aspect.
- The crash site could also be used to gather glowstone and nether brick without going to the nether. It also allows you to travel to the nether without getting a diamond pick for obsidian gathering.
Unknown Meteor:
- The Unknown Meteor is the rarest meteor in the mod. This is mostly due to the wealth of resources it provides. It may seem small at first, but it holds so much more to be seen. The shell of the meteor is comprised of ores from the main three meteors (Meteorite, Frezarite, and Kreknorite). On the center edges, there are glowstone blocks. The real amazing part is in the center. In the center of the meteor holds a chest which holds various rare (and some common) items. You can get any thing from Meteorite Armor to Diamonds!
- Note that when blocked by a meteor shield, it still has a chance to give one or two items from its chest.
Kitty Comet:
- Kitty Comets can be extremely rare in earlier versions of the mod, but with the introduction of Comets they are slightly more frequent (at least when they are by themselves). There is a one percent chance (default setting) that hundreds of Kitty Comets can come down at once. Be sure to have a Meteor Shield setup to prevent them from damaging your environment when that happens.
- Kitty Comets leave behind a Comet Kitty, which are adorable little things with space helmets on their heads. They are stronger than ocelots, keep away alien creepers, and are immune to fire. They can also breed with ocelots and their own kind to birth more Comet Kitties.
