Hardcore Torches Mod (1.20.4, 1.19.3) makes the torches in-game more realistic by introducing a new feature, in which torches would be burnt out if players let them stay on for too long. In the world of Minecraft, torches can technically last forever, thus allowing players to open up new paths without ever worrying about having a lack of lighting. With Hardcore Torches, however, players would have to take into account the duration of a torch and replace them when the time comes. While it does make the game more challenging, it also adds a layer of realism, which many players enjoy as they have already fought through the standard version of the game.
