How to Summon a Tame Ocelot – Wiki Guide
This Minecraft tutorial explains how to summon a tame ocelot that behaves like a cat with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.
You can summon an ocelot that is already tamed, looks like a cat, and ready to be your companion whenever you want using a cheat (game command) in Minecraft. This is done using the /summon command.
Let’s explore how to do this.
TIP: Starting with the introduction of the new cat mob in Minecraft (Java Edition 1.14 and Bedrock Edition 1.8.0), you can no longer tame an ocelot into a domesticated cat.
Requirements
To run game commands in Minecraft, you have to turn cheats on in your world.
Summon Command
Summon Command in Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac)
In Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac) 1.11, 1.12 and 1.13, the syntax to summon a tame ocelot using the /summon command is:
/summon ocelot [pos] {Owner:<PlayerName>, CatType:<Number>}
In Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac) 1.8, 1.9 and 1.10, the syntax to summon a tame ocelot is:
/summon Ozelot [x] [y] [z] {Owner:<PlayerName>, CatType:<Number>}
Definitions
- pos or x y z is optional. It is the x y z coordinate where the ocelot should spawn. If no coordinate is specified, the ocelot will spawn in the current location.
- {Owner:<PlayerName>} is an optional NBT tag (formerly called data tag) used to specify the owner of the tamed ocelot. See NBT tags for ocelot.
- PlayerName is the name of the player that owns the ocelot. You can not use target selectors such as @p.
- {CatType:<Number>} is an optional NBT tag (formerly called data tag) used to specify the type of cat to spawn.
- Number is the number indicating what CatType to spawn. 1 = tuxedo, 2 = tabby, 3 = siamese.

- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), press the T key to open the chat window.
2. Type the Command
In this example, we are going to summon a tamed ocelot that is owned by 9Minecraft and is a tuxedo cat in Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac) 1.13 with the following command:

Type the command in the chat window. As you are typing, you will see the command appear in the lower left corner of the game window. Press the Enter key to run the command.
Once the cheat has been entered, the tamed ocelot will spawn as a cute cat and appear in your world:
