This Minecraft tutorial explains how to use the /setworldspawn command with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.

You can use the /setworldspawn command to set the spawn point for a Minecraft world. Let’s explore how to use this cheat (game command).

Requirements

To run game commands in Minecraft, you have to turn cheats on in your world.

SetWorldSpawn Command

SetWorldSpawn Command in Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac)

In Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac), the syntax to set the world spawn point is:

/setworldspawn [pos]

Definitions

  • pos is optional. It is the x y z coordinate to use for the world spawnpoint. If you don’t specify a coordinate, the command will use your current position in the game.

Examples

Example in Java Edition (PC/Mac)

To set the world spawn point to your current location in Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac):

/setworldspawn

To set the world spawn point to an absolute position of (-113, 92, 211) as the (x, y, z) coordinate:

/setworldspawn -113 92 211

To set the world spawn point to a relative position (that is 19 blocks West and 10 blocks North of our current position):

/setworldspawn ~-19 ~ ~-10

How to Enter the Command

1. Open the Chat Window

The easiest way to run a command in Minecraft is within the chat window. The game control to open the chat window depends on the version of Minecraft:

  • For Java Edition (PC/Mac), press the T key to open the chat window.
  • For Pocket Edition (PE), tap on the chat button  at the top of the screen.
  • For Xbox One, press the D-Pad (right)  on the controller.
  • For PS4, press the D-Pad (right)  on the controller.
  • For Nintendo Switch, press the right arrow button  on the controller.
  • For Windows 10 Edition, press the T key to open the chat window.
  • For Education Edition, press the T key to open the chat window.

2. Type the Command

In this example, we will set the world spawn point to a coordinate of (-113, 92, 211):

/setworldspawn -113 92 211

Type the command in the chat window. As you are typing, you will see the command appear in the lower left corner of the game window. Press the Enter key to run the command.

Once the cheat has been entered, the spawnpoint for the Minecraft world will be changed to the new coordinates.

In this example, the new world spawnpoint will be at (-113, 92, 211).

TIP: The /setworldspawn command will not override your personal spawnpoint that you set when you sleep in a bed or use the /spawnpoint command.

Congratulations, you just learned how to use the /setworldspawn command in Minecraft!
