Many players tend to skip the initial armor in the game due to the lengthy resource-gathering process and the armor’s low durability. Leather+ Update Addon (1.21) introduces “leather pieces” (9 pieces per vanilla leather unit), which are used in revamped recipes, replacing traditional leather recipes. Additionally, it features reinforced leather armor and a new item for crafting paper: “cellulose pulp.”

How it works:

  • Use the leather to divide it into pieces.

  • You can attach the leather pieces to recover the leather.

  • Dressing in leather is now easier than ever. With leather pieces, you now only need x3 leather for a full set of armor. And you still have some pieces left over.
  • All leather uses have been reworked. (Custom recipes will replace vanilla ones.)

Vanilla leather armor recipes:

  • You can cook rotten meat into leather pieces, and use campfires if you don’t want to waste fuel.

  • If you still feel that the Leather Armor is not worth crafting, you can craft the Reinforced Leather Armor using an Iron Ingot.

Total defense points: 13 (iron armor has 15)

  • [2] Helmet
  • [2] Boots

Now you can break the reinforced armor to recover the iron lingot, also you will also receive leather pieces (half or less of the pieces that were used to create the armor).

Break the reinforced leather armor and add 2 leather pieces to recover both; the iron ingot and the leather armor piece. This is useful to save you from snow traps.

Make cellulose pulp using water (bucket or 3 bottles) and any stripped log. Don’t worry about the containers, it won’t consume your bottles or buckets.

All that’s left is to cook the pulp to obtain paper.
