Hostility Level (Hostile)

A magma cube is a hostile mob. The term mob is short for mobile and is used to refer to all living, moving creatures in the game such as chickens, creepers, and magma cubes. Because a magma cube is a hostile mob, it will attack you in Survival mode but not Creative mode.

Different Sizes of Magma Cubes

There are three sizes of magma cubes in Minecraft – large, medium, and small. The larger the magma cube, the more damage it will do to you.

When you kill a large magma cube, it will drop medium magma cubes. When you kill a medium magma cube, it will drop small magma cubes. When you kill a small magma cube, you are done the battle and no further magma cubes will be dropped.

You never know what size of magma cube you will run into in Minecraft. It could be any size from a large magma cube to a small one.

Health Points

In Minecraft, a magma cube has different health depending on its size.

A large magma cube has 8 hearts  for health. This gives a large magma cube 16 health points (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill a large magma cube, you need to inflict 16 points of damage to it.

A medium magma cube has 2 hearts  for health. This gives a medium magma cube 4 health points (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill a medium magma cube, you need to inflict 4 points of damage to it.

A small magma cube has 0.5 hearts  for health. This gives a small magma cube 1 health point (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill a small magma cube, you need to inflict 1 point of damage to it.

Where to Find Magma Cubes

In Minecraft, you can find magma cubes in the Basalt Deltas biome in the Nether.

If you haven’t been to the Nether, you need to build a nether portal to take you to the Nether. When you walk through a nether portal, it will transport you between the Overworld and the Nether. This is what a nether portal looks like:

If you are having trouble finding a magma cube, you can summon a magma cube using a cheat or you can use a spawn egg.

Weapon

A magma cube does not carry a weapon.

Attack Method

In Minecraft, a magma cube will hop towards you and try to bump into you when it attacks. Because magma cubes come in different sizes, the larger the magma cube the more damage it will do to you.

Drops

When you kill a large or medium magma cube in Minecraft, it will drop a magma cream.

Make sure you pick up any dropped items before they disappear. They are useful and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.

Experience Points

As you play the game, you will gain experience. The most common way to gain experience is by killing mobs. When a mob is killed you will see tiny green and yellow balls appear and move towards you.

These orbs represent experience points. When you kill a magma cube, you will gain experience points but it depends on the size of the magma cube. A large magma cube will give you 4 experience points, a medium magma cube will give you 2 experience points and a small magma cube will give you 1 experience point.
