Near Sightedly Mod (1.17.1) is an extremely simple mod that automatically adjusts the client’s render distance to match the server’s view distance. It performs one simple function: matching the client’s render distance to the view distance of the server. It only has an effect when on multiplayer servers and does nothing if installed server-side. The reason behind the creation of this mod is that Minecraft seems to render fog based on the client’s render distance, not on how many chunks are loaded. So if the render distance is set to 32 chunks, but the server only sends 10, the fog will be far beyond the edge of the loaded world. There will be no updates for this mod above version 1.17 since the mod’s functionality has actually been incorporated into the base game.
