In the vanilla game, you could just build an obsidian frame, light it up using flint & steel and just jump in to enter the Nether dimension. This is not very complicated, and with the right knowledge, anyone can travel to the Nether within 5 minutes of starting a new survival world. This process seems a lot simpler for something as serious as interdimensional travel, which could be considered an advanced aspect of the game. Nether Remastered Mod (1.20.1, 1.19.2) is here to make Nether travelling a lot more complicated by introducing a much harder travel procedure. Jumping into a lit portal will no longer teleport you to the Nether. For this to work, the overlords of the Nether must find you worthy of entry. You can prove your worth by obtaining a new item called the Seal Of The Underworld. Holding right click on this item will unlock an achievement that gives you the ability for Nether travel. The steps required to achieve Nether travel are given below.

How To Enter The Nether

  1. Create Obsidian Infused Bottles with 2x Glass and 1x Crying Obsidian (Crafts x3).
  2. Hold the Obsidian Infused Bottle in your off-hand and kill any undead mob, doing so will trap the Nether Essence inside the bottle.
  3. Obtain all four shard pieces from Evokers, Witches, Abandoned Mineshafts and Pillager Outposts. (Note: Each mob/structure only drops ONE variant of the shard. I.e. Evoker only drops the bottom left shard.).
  4. Now for possibly the most challenging task, kill the Warden to obtain the Nether Crystal.
  5. Once you’ve obtained all the required items you can now craft the Seal Of The Underworld.
  6. Use the seal to be granted access to the Nether.
