Glow lichen was introduced into the game in the 1.17 update. It is a light emitting non-solid block that is very similar to vines. This item grows in underground caves and is not particularly useful. From a distance, a glow lichen growing on a stone block can easily be mistaken for a diamond ore block. If you feel like glow lichens have no place in our game, No More Glow Lichen Mod (1.21.1, 1.20.1) is for you. This mod essentially removes glow lichen from the world generation.
