Copper was introduced to the game in a recent update, and it introduces a variety of new copper themed blocks and items. Oxidizing is a special property that can only be seen in copper blocks. These blocks oxidize and slowly turn into green color when exposed to air and water, just like in real life. But for some reason, this mechanic does not apply to lightning rods. Oxidizing Lightning Rods Mod (1.20.6, 1.20.1)  fixes this inconsistency. With this mod installed, lightning rods will oxidize over time and they can also be waxed to prevent oxidation, just like with any other copper block.
