Hostility Level (Neutral)

A polar bear is a neutral mob. The term mob is short for mobile and is used to refer to all living, moving creatures in the game such as chickens, creepers, and polar bears. Because a polar bear is a neutral mob, it will only attack you in Survival mode if you attack the polar bear first or if you go near its cub (baby polar bear). It will never attack you in Creative mode.

Health Points

In Minecraft, a polar bear has 15 hearts  for health. This gives a polar bear 30 health points (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill a polar bear, you need to inflict 30 points of damage to the polar bear.

Where to Find Polar Bears

In Minecraft, you can find polar bears in Snow biomes such as the Snowy Plains, Frozen Ocean, and Deep Frozen Ocean biomes.

Snowy Plains

Frozen Ocean

Deep Frozen Ocean

Quite often, you will see a polar bear walking with its cub (baby polar bear). If you are having trouble finding a polar bear, you can summon a polar bear using a cheat or you can use a spawn egg.

Weapon

A polar bear does not carry a weapon.

Attack Method

In Minecraft, a polar bear rears up on its hind legs and tries to strike you with its front paws when it attacks you.

Drops

When you kill a polar bear, it may drop one or more of the following items: raw fish or raw salmon.

Experience Points

As you play the game, you will gain experience. The most common way to gain experience is by killing mobs. When a mob is killed you will see tiny green and yellow balls appear and move towards you.

These orbs represent experience points. When you kill a polar bear, you will gain 1-3 experience points.

TIP: You can’t breed polar bears in Minecraft yet.
