PPG’s Weapon Expansion Data Pack (1.21.3, 1.21) introduces new weapon types and variations along with new enchantments to enhance survival gameplay! This data pack was made in light of the many new data pack features introduced in 1.21 including custom enchanting and nbt crafting, aiming to provide features similar to mods like “Epic Knights: Shields, Armor and Weapons”. Enjoy playing this data pack!

Features:

    • TO GET STARTED: Craft a “Weapon Compendium” with a book, axe of any kind, and sword of any kind. Using the Weapon Compendium will unlock all new recipes for this data pack in the recipe book. Have fun!

  • Weapon Types:
    • Twinblade – a double edged sword that is initially weak but has a spinning combo that ramps up attack speed up to a strong heavy swing.
    • Guardblade – a shield variant that can act as a decent weapon. Note: Netherite version is obtained in crafting table rather than by smithing.
    • Knuckes – a set of knuckles that are rather weak but incredibly fast. Having knuckles in both hands will combine their damage bonuses.
    • Battle Axe – A more drastic version of the axe, boasting incredible power but slow attack speed
    • Dao – A weaker but faster swinging sword
    • Naginata – A sword variation with increased range but with the drawback of slower speed and average damage
    • Halberd – A very powerful axe, boasting the same stats as the Battle Axe and increased range, but loses effectiveness when the offhand is not empty
    • Greatsword – A slightly slower but more powerful version of the sword with increased range, but loses effectiveness when the offhand is not empty
    • Special Weapon: Khopesh – A rather unexciting sword variation that doesn’t do much on its own. However, it has the potential to be very useful with the right enchantments (see below)
  • Bow/Crossbow Mods:
    • Spiked Bow – A bow with modified melee damage and speed for last resort
    • Boosting Bow – A bow that provides the user with jump boost while held
    • Spiked Crossbow – A bow with modified melee damage and speed for last resort
    • Guarded Crossbow – A crossbow with guards on it to provide armor and knockback immunity while held
    • Mechanical Crossbow – A heavily modified crossbow that has the ability to instantly reload and rapid fire a special arrow type
  • Enchantments (Bold= enchantable in crafting table, Italics= only enchantable through anvil):
  • Melee Weapons:
    • Heavy Swing (mace) – Increased damage substantially but only when grounded. Also inflicts slowness on the user when attacking.
    • Slugger (mace) – Attacks have a chance of inflicting a short but strong slowness effect.
    • Dive Bomb (mace) – When held, provides jump boost. Upon falling at least 4 blocks, cause an explosion directly on target hit (WARNING VERY DESTRUCTIVE)
    • Divinity (sword) – Grants user absorption on kill. Effect reapplies on consecutive kills but does not stack
    • Energize (sword) – Grants user a short burst of haste and speed on hit
    • Enfeeble (swordmace) – Inflicts mining fatigue on hit
    • Exploit (swordaxe) – Increased damage against targets afflicted with a negative effect
    • First Impression (axesword) – Increased damage against targets without a First Impression mark. Applies First Impression mark after hit
    • Maximum Might (swordaxe) – Increased damage when user’s food bar is full
    • Osmosis (trident) – Attacks have partial armor penetration
    • Parry (sword) – When holding weapon and attacked by an entity with an axe or sword, inflict a short duration of weakness on attacker
    • Peak Performance (swordaxe) – Increased damage when user’s current health is full. Increased max health and/or absorption will further increase enchantment effect
    • Rage (axesword) – Increased damage as the user’s current health gets lower
    • Strongarm (trident) – Increased throwing damage
    • Venomous (swordmace) – Inflicts poison on hit
  • Shields:
    • Reflect (shield) – Arrows blocked are reflected in direction you are facing.
    • Counter Thrust (shield, craftable) – After successfully blocking an attack, damage from this weapon is increased and a short burst of speed is granted, both for a short period of time.

    • Stalwart (shield) – Knockback immunity when in offhand
  • Bows:
    • Arrow Rain (bow) – Crit arrows summon a rain of arrows on targets hit
    • Strafe (bow) – Crit arrows grant user a short burst of speed on hit
    • Straight Shot (bow) – Arrows ignore gravity
  • Armor:
    • Vitality (all) – Increases max health
    • Weak Armor (chestplate) – reduces armor effectiveness but increases movement speed when worn
  • Incompatibilities:
    • Divinity, Maximum Might, Parry, Exploit (all with each other)
    • Venomous & Enfeeble
    • Peak Performance, Rage, & Heavy Swing – Sharpness, Bane of Arthropods, Smite (including each other)
    • Strongarm & Osmosis – Impaling (including with each other)
    • Dive Bomb – Smite, Bane of Arthropods, Density, Breach, Fire Aspect, Wind Burst
    • Arrow Rain – Infinity, Flame
    • Vitality – Protection, Fire Protection, Blast Protection, Projectile Protection
    • Weak Armor – Thorns
  • Enchantment Synergies:
    • Black Widow (Bane of Arthropods + Venomous): Victim is inflicted with a more potent poison
    • Blessed (Smite + Divinity): Gain short lasting regeneration when attacking
    • Burning Toxins (Fire Aspect + Venomous): Victim is inflicted with wither instead of poison
    • Critical Eye (Maximum Might + Peak Performance): Attacks have a chance of dealing a bit of extra damage
    • Disarm (Parry + Looting III + Khopesh): Attacking a mob holding an axe/sword will force it to drop
    • Fiery Disposition (Fire Aspect + Rage): When attacked while holding the item, gain a burst of haste
    • Voltage (Smite + Energize): Attacks have a chance of dealing double damage. Chance increases as Smite level increases
  • Since Sharpness is commonly considered the best “damage” enchantment for melee weapons by a long shot, I wanted to find a way to make the other options viable without nerfing or otherwise changing the identity of Sharpness. So, my solution was to create combos of enchantments that, when both/all are present on a single item, provide bonus special effects. Sharpness remains the most consistent and straightforward method of boosting damage, but Smite and Bane of Arthropod have more opportunities to at least somewhat catch up to Sharpness in unique ways.Additional Notes: Bow/Crossbow Upgrades can be obtained from pillager outposts and dungeons
