Project Lambda Mod 1.12.2 (Half-Life in Minecraft)
Project Lambda Mod 1.12.2 is an ambitious project aiming to re-create the classic shooter masterpiece, Half-Life, often debated to be the best game of all time that revolutionized its genre, in Minecraft.
Features:
Charging Station: The charging station is a wall-mounted device found throughout the Black Mesa facility that is used to slowly replenish the user’s suit power. It is activated by holding the ‘use’ key. It has a limited capacity of 70 power and cannot be reused after being depleted.
Laser Tripmine: The laser tripmine is a high-tech wall-mounted anti-personnel mine. It instantly detonates whenever any attempt to remove it is made or when its emitted laser is tripped.
Medical Repair Station: The medical repair station is a wall-mounted device found throughout the Black Mesa facility that is used to slowly replenish the user’s health. It is activated by holding the ‘use’ key. It has a limited capacity of 70 health and cannot be reused after being depleted.
Battery: The battery is a small power module used to power up different equipment, most notably the HEV suit and the PCV. It can restore up to 15 power to the user’s suit.
Colt Python: The Colt Python is a .357 Magnum caliber double-action revolver formerly manufactured by Colt’s Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. Whilst it is very powerful and has a near perfect accuracy, it has a long reload time and low rate of fire.
Crossbow: The Crossbow is a silent projectile weapon fixed with a scope developed at the Black Mesa Research Facility. Its primary mode fires a bolt, while the secondary mode zooms in with the scope. Unlike most weapons, it can be fired underwater. Its ammo consists of five feathered bolts in a magazine. These are fed one at a time into the firing mechanism, which utilizes a high-tension wire to launch the bolt.
Crowbar: Originally a tool, it has been reused as a surprisingly effective melee weapon, useful against smaller and/or lone enemies, or when the player is short on ammo. Even though it deals a small amount of damage, it can be swung at a much faster rate and has no durability.
Franchi SPAS 12: The Franchi SPAS-12 is a pump-action combat shotgun manufactured by Italian firearms company Franchi that fires buckshot shells. Its primary mode fires a single buckshot shell, releasing 6 pellets, while the secondary mode fires 2 shells at once in a larger spread, totaling 12 pellets. It is reloaded 1 shell at a time. The reloading process can be interrupted by unequiping the weapon.
Glock 17: The Glock 17 is a 9mm caliber semi-automatic pistol designed and produced by Austrian manufacturer Glock Ges.m.b.H. It is also the standard issue weapon used by the Black Mesa security guards. It can be fired in either semi-automatic or rapid fire mode. Its primary mode fires accurate shots at a slow rate, while the secondary mode fires quick but less accurate bullets. The latter is recommended to be used only at close range. It is one of the few weapons that is able to fire underwater.
Gluon Gun: The Gluon Gun, or Quantum Destabilizer, is an experimental energy-based weapon developed at the Black Mesa Research Facility. It fires a glowing beam of Gluon particles capable of vaporizing mostly anything it hits. The gun consists of a hand-held beam emitter attached by a thick cable to a backpack-mounted unit.
H&K MP5: The MP5 is a 9mm submachine gun, developed by a team of engineers from the German small arms manufacturer Heckler & Koch GmbH (H&K) of Oberndorf am Neckar. It is also the standard issue weapon used by the HECU. This variant is equipped with a 40mm M203 under-barrel grenade launcher. Its primary mode fires shots at a very high rate at the cost of accuracy, while the secondary attack launches a grenade that explodes on impact.
HEV Suit: The Hazardous Environment suit is a full-body hazardous materials suit developed at the Black Mesa Research Facility for use in hazardous environment conditions. It protects the wearer from all kinds of environmental damage and trauma, notifies the user about vital information via the heads-up display and a computer voice and provides a wide range of utilities. Additionally, the suit has an electrically hardened energy shield system which absorbs more than two-thirds of any damage experienced by the wearer, with a few exceptions. It can be charged using wall-mounted chargers or power modules.
By default the suit monitors the wearer’s vital signs and suit condition, which it displays the bottom left part of the HUD.
The suit also includes a weapon management system which tracks the information about the user’s weapons in the bottom right part of the HUD and displays a specific crosshair for increased precision and comfort depending on the used weapon in the center of the HUD.
Hivehand: The Hivehand is a biologically engineered living assault rifle developed most likely in the borderworld Xen for the Xenian Grunts. It fires small insect-like organisms called ‘hornets’. These heat-seeking autonomous creatures will home in on any targets in the general direction in which they are traveling. The weapon’s primary mode fires homing hornets at a rather slow rate, while the secondary mode fires hornets which do not seek enemies at a much higher rate.
Medkit: The medkit is a kit containing medical equipment to treat emergencies, often found scattered around high-risk areas where immediate medical attention might be needed to prevent death. It can restore up to 15 health to the user.
MK2 Grenade: The MK2 grenade is a fragmentation type anti-personnel hand grenade and is often used by the HECU to flush out enemies. It is a timed explosive that detonates five seconds after the grenade’s pin is pulled.
RPG Launcher: The RPG (Rocket-Propelled Grenade) Launcher is a laser-guided rocket launcher effective at destroying both flying and immobile targets. Its primary mode launches an explosive rocket that can either be guided by the integrated laser or unguided without the laser, while the secondary mode allows to toggle the laser.
Satchel Charge: The Satchel Charge is an explosive demolition bag that can be remotely triggered by a special remote. It must be noted that the remote detonates all currently active satchel charges.
Sentry Gun: The HECU Sentry Gun is a fully autonomous weapon. Sentry Guns are commonly used by the HECU, and Black Ops, to guard areas of strategic value. It consists of a powerful machine gun built onto a tripod, mounted on a turntable unit allowing it a 360° field of view.
Snark: The Snark is a small alien life form which doubles as a biological weapon. They are small, beetle-like creatures with four legs, a single green eye, and a thick, dark red, segmented shell. They are social and highly territorial, making nests and protecting them at all costs. The nests can be picked up and thrown at enemies. When their nest is threatened, Snarks will leap out and charge at their intruder, bouncing around madly and biting with their sharp beaks. After 20 seconds Snarks explode, spraying acid everywhere. Snarks emit a higher pitched squeak the longer they are alive with each bite.
Tau Cannon: The Tau Cannon, also known as the XVL1456, is a prototype energy-based assault rifle weapon developed by scientists at the Black Mesa Research Facility. The Tau Cannon fires beams of Tau particles; each beam damages a target with its negative charge and its bullet-like kinetic energy. The weapon has two different fire modes. The primary mode shoots tau particles rapidly, visible as yellow beams. The secondary mode mode charges up the weapon to fire more powerful white-hot beams which can shoot through multiple targets or walls, causing a devastating explosion blast of particles on the far side, thus gibbing and knocking any target that gets in the beam. The recoil induced by the tau particles is so strong that the user is propelled backwards with great force. This effect can be used to the user’s advantage to traverse longer distances quickly. Tau particles can also reflect off walls if the angle of impact is less than 30°.
Barnacle: The Barnacle is a carnivorous stationary ceiling-dwelling alien life form. A Barnacle is little more than a large mouth full of two rows of sharp teeth, with a long string-like appendage dangling out of its maw. The Barnacle uses its “tongue” to snare and lift prey items. On its tongue is a very strong natural adhesive (such as cilia/setae) that can bond to whatever it comes in contact with. Barnacles do not appear to possess any degree of intelligence – instead of actively hunting prey, they feed by reacting to external stimulus. Barnacles cannot differentiate between living and inorganic items that become stuck to their tongues, and can be tricked into hauling in debris. Barnacles attach themselves to ceilings or the undersides of overhangs, from which they lower their sticky tongues. Although Barnacles can be found in a wide array of environments, they seem to prefer damp areas.
Headcrab: The Headcrab is a small alien parasitic life form, roughly the size of a pumpkin. They are covered in smooth skin, which varies in color between subspecies, and crawl on four short legs. These provide enough jumping power to leap up to 3 meters (10 feet) in any direction. Their underside is almost completely covered by a large, jaw-less mouth, with a hidden ‘beak’ used for feeding and for latching onto the skulls of victims. As seen on Xen, Headcrabs appear to typically be born out of a Gonarch; therefore, some Headcrabs may mature into Gonarchs as part of their natural life cycle. A Headcrab’s primary goal is to attach to the head of a suitable host using its mouth (typically covering the face and most of the head). The Headcrab then burrows its claws and hind legs into the host and opens up portions of the skull with its mouth, incorporating parts of its biological workings with the motor cortex of the host’s nervous system. The victim is thus taken over by the Headcrab and mutated into a mindless zombie-like being known as a Headcrab Zombie
Headcrab Zombie: Once a Headcrab successfully attaches to a host, it will assume control of all their motor functions in order to seek out prey to feed on through the host. Through some unknown biological process, the host’s hands turn into long, skeletal claws and a massive hole appears in their chest lined with the hosts’ ribs, becoming a makeshift “mouth,” with their ribs serving as teeth. Removal of the Headcrab reveals that the host’s head is bent abnormally upwards, their hair is matted with blood, and their face is pale, with their eyes shut and mouth open in a frozen scream.
Houndeye: The Houndeye is an omnivorous alien life form, possessing only three legs and a thorax. It is faint yellow-green in color, with electric blue tiger-like stripes adorning its spine. In place of a head there is a large, black, insect-like compound eye protected by vertical eyelids. Houndeyes apparently communicate through a series of high-pitched sounds somewhat similar to the barking of dogs, to which its behavior and movement are very similar. While a shy and timid creature by itself, groups of Houndeyes display resonant behavior, emitting destructive harmonic sonic attacks in shock waves, capable of injuring those they attack or destroying nearby objects such as windows. The damage of each Houndeye’s shock wave varies on the amount of nearby pack members.
Vortigaunt: The Vortigaunts are an extra-dimensional alien species. The Vortigaunts are an enslaved race in an alternative dimension called Xen, subservient to a large creature called the Nihilanth, which itself is a slave to undisclosed masters. Vortigaunts are shown as a very communal and cultural race, believing in a force that binds the fabric of the universe and each Vortigaunt together, as well as producing a tradition of poetry and music. Vortigaunts also display the ability to summon and command electrical energy without the need for technology. This ability is used for various activities, such as a means of attack, powering electrical equipment, and healing. If their electric arc attack successfully deals damage, the vortigaunt is restored 3 health.
