Budding amethyst is a type of block that is commonly found in amethyst geodes. These blocks grow amethyst crystals in a slow process, and allows you to collect the shards. In the vanilla game, breaking a budding amethyst block will destroy it without dropping anything. This block cannot be moved using pistons, nor can it be obtained in its item form in survival mode. This means, the only way you can farm amethyst shards is by visiting geodes every once in a while. But not anymore! Silk Touch Budding Amethyst Mod (1.21.1, 1.20.1), as the name suggests, allows you to obtain a budding amethyst block by mining it using a pickaxe that has the silk touch enchantment on it. You will now be able to collect many budding amethyst blocks and then place them somewhere near your base to farm shards at a larger scale.
