This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft a soul torch with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.

In Minecraft, the soul torch is a new type of torch that was introduced in the Nether Update. It has a lower light level than the standard torch, but it can be used to scare away piglins.

Let’s explore how to make a soul torch.

How to craft a Soul Torch in Survival Mode

1. Open the Crafting Menu

First, open your crafting table so that you have the 3×3 crafting grid that looks like this:

2. Add Items to make a Soul Torch

In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3×3 crafting grid. To make a soul torch, you will need to place specific items in the grid. It is important that the items are placed in the exact pattern as our example images. Changing the pattern of boxes that are filled will change the item that is crafted.

There are 4 patterns you can use as a crafting recipe for a soul torch:

Pattern 1

With this pattern, there should be 1 coal, 1 stick and 1 soul soil.

Pattern 2

With this pattern, there should be 1 coal, 1 stick and 1 soul sand.

Pattern 3

With this pattern, there should be 1 charcoal, 1 stick and 1 soul soil.

Pattern 4

With this pattern, there should be 1 charcoal, 1 stick and 1 soul sand.

Now that you have filled the crafting area with the correct pattern, the 4 soul torches will appear in the box to the right.

3. Move the Soul Torches to Inventory

Once you have crafted soul torches, you need to move the new items to your inventory.

Congratulations, you have made a soul torch in Minecraft!
