This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft a stripped birch log with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.

In Minecraft, a stripped birch log is an item that you can not make with a crafting table or furnace. Instead, you need to find and gather this item in the game.

Let’s explore how to add a stripped birch log to your inventory.

Where to find a Stripped Birch Log in Creative Mode

Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac)

Here is where you can find a stripped birch log in the Creative Inventory menu:

Platform Version(s) Creative Menu Location
Java Edition (PC/Mac) 1.13 – 1.19.3
  • Platform is the platform that applies.
  • Version(s) is the Minecraft version numbers where the item can be found in the menu location listed (we have tested and confirmed this version number).
  • Creative Menu Location is the location of the item in the Creative Inventory menu.

How to get a Stripped Birch Log in Survival Mode

You can add a stripped birch log to your inventory in Survival mode by stripping the bark from a birch log with an axe. So, let’s get started!

1. Find a Birch Tree

First, you need to find a birch tree in your Minecraft world. Birch trees are usually found in the Forest biome.

2. Hold an Axe

Next, you will need to select an axe in your hotbar. These are the axes you can choose from:

How to make a Diamond Axe
How to make a Golden Axe
How to make a Iron Axe
How to make a Stone Axe
How to make a Wooden Axe
How to make a Netherite Axe

In this example, we are going to select a diamond axe.

3. Strip the Bark with the Axe

Now, you need to strip the bark from a birch log with your axe. The game control to strip the bark with an axe depends on the version of Minecraft:

  • For Java Edition (PC/Mac), right click on the birch log.
  • For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap on the birch log.
  • For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press the LT button on the Xbox controller.
  • For PS3 and PS4, press the L2 button on the PS controller.
  • For Wii U, press the ZL button on the gamepad.
  • For Nintendo Switch, press the ZL button on the controller.
  • For Windows 10 Edition, right click on the birch log.
  • For Education Edition, right click on the birch log.

You should now see the bark removed from the birch log. This turns the birch log into a stripped birch log.

4. Chop down the Stripped Birch Log

The game control to chop down the stripped birch log depends on the version of Minecraft:

  • For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the stripped birch log.
  • For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the stripped birch log.
  • For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
  • For PS3 and PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
  • For Wii U, press and hold the ZR button on the gamepad.
  • For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
  • For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the stripped birch log.
  • For Education Edition, left click and hold on the stripped birch log.

You will need to continue to chop until the stripped birch log drops from the tree.

5. Pick up the Stripped Birch Log

Make sure you pick up the stripped birch log before it disappears.

Once you pick up the stripped birch log, it will appear in your hotbar.

A stripped birch log is a useful item and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.
