Thingamabobs and Doohickeys Mod (1.20.4, 1.19.4) – Cartoon-Like Effect
Thingamabobs and Doohickeys Mod (1.20.4, 1.19.4) is a mod that adds a range of wacky, cartoon-themed gadgets. This mod is designed to be balanced with respect to the vanilla Minecraft gameplay.
Features:
- Comically large mallet
- Spring-loaded boxing glove
- Explosive pastry
- Comically large magnet
Items:
Comically Large Mallet
- A comically large mallet is a slow, two-handed weapon that deals massive damage to entities in an area. When equipped, the player is unable to hold an item in the offhand slot.
- Attacking
- When equipping a comically large mallet, the attack button must be held down to fill the attack charge meter–and then released to inflict damage. If the attack charge meter is released at 100%, the damage is dealt towards an area of nearby entities. If the meter is between 50% and 100%, only the directly targeted entity is hit. Otherwise, no damage is dealt.
- When hitting multiple entities, all entities take the same damage.
- A comically large mallet has a durability of 250. The mallet’s durability decreases by how many living entities it hits, simultaneously or not.
- Attacking a shield user with a mallet disables the shield for 5 seconds.
- The mallet has a hidden “safety feature:” unless the player holds right click while releasing left click, villagers, wandering traders, iron golems, tamed animals, and other players will not be damaged.
- A player cannot break blocks with a comically large mallet.
Spring‐Loaded Boxing Glove
- A spring-loaded boxing glove is a mid-range weapon that loads and fires like a crossbow. Most notably, its projectile sports a high knockback.
- Weapon
- Similarly to a crossbow, load a spring-loaded boxing glove by using it. Unlike bows, the projectile can be fired only if the player releases the use button after the apparatus is loaded. At this point, it must be used a second time to fire its projectile.
- When firing the apparatus, the boxing glove projectile flies in a straight line and then rebounds to the player.
- No ammo is needed. The player can use a spring-loaded boxing glove as long as the projectile returns to the player. The projectile will never be “lost.”
- By default, spring-loaded boxing gloves take 1.25 seconds (25 ticks) to load.
- A spring-loaded boxing glove has a durability of 465. The apparatus’s durability decreases not when it is fired, but when it hits living entities. If the apparatus breaks while the projectile is out, the projectile will continue hitting entities in its path like normal before rebounding.
- When the spring-loaded boxing glove is placed in a dispenser, the dispenser can shoot out a boxing glove projectile.
- Boxing glove projectile
- When hitting any entity, a boxing glove projectile pierces through them and continues its flight. A living entity hit will be knocked back a distance of ~12 blocks and is forced to dismount whatever it is riding. Hitting a player using a shield will neither damage that player or knock them back. Its flight is stopped only when it strikes a block or reaches its maximum distance.
- By default, the maximum distance of the projectile is 10 blocks.
- The following causes the projectile to backfire and damage the shooter:
- Slime block
- Bed
- Explosion
- If the projectile hits fire or lava and then returns, the shooter catches fire for 5 seconds.
- Endermen teleport away from projectile paths, so they cannot be hit with boxing glove projectiles.
- Attack strength
- The boxing glove projectile released by a spring-loaded boxing glove projectile always does 10 damage.
Explosive Pastry
- Explosive pastries are throwable combat items that sticks onto its target before blowing up. If thrown on the ground, it acts as a landmine.
- Combat
- Explosive pastries can be thrown by using them. There is no charging time or cooldown for firing them, meaning they can be thrown as fast as the player can click. Explosive pastries are affected by gravity.
- Upon hitting a living entity, explosive pastries deal no damage. They remain stuck onto the entity for 3 seconds, after which they explode. Explosive pastries explode immediately when hitting an ender dragon or non-living entity. When multiple explosive pastries stick to a living entity, they do not explode in an interval of less than 0.5 seconds, causing that entity to take full damage from all of the explosions.
- When landing on the ground, explosive pastries remain dormant, exploding only when an entity touches it. In this “landmine” form, explosive pastries also explode when exposed to another explosion. This enables the player to create exceptionally dangerous traps; a cluster of just 3 pastries can launch a living entity to fatal heights.
- Explosive pastries deal 7 damage upon exploding. The explosion is different from normal explosions in that it deals a fixed amount of damage to any living entity within the blast radius. The damage is not reduced if there are blocks between the entity and the explosion’s center.
- Explosions from explosive pastries do not destroy any blocks unless the “Explosive Pastry Griefing” config is set to true.
- Other than appearance, there is no difference between explosive pumpkin pies and explosive cakes.
- Defusing
- When touching a liquid such as water and lava, explosive pastries become defused. An explosive pumpkin pie drops a pumpkin pie, and an explosive cake drops a cake.
Comically Large Magnet
- A comically large magnet is a tool that pulls in nearby metallic items and entities towards the user.
- Usage
- As long as it is equipped in the main hand or offhand slot, the comically large magnet requires no input from the user. The gadget only works when the user is a player. It has a durability of 250.
- Breaking blocks
- For every 0.5 seconds, the comically large magnet instantly destroys metallic ores that are in a 8x8x8 cube centered around the user, effectively making its mining range 4 blocks.
- Stealing items
- As long as they have room in their inventory, a comically large magnet user automatically picks up dropped metallic items within a 12x12x12 cube centered around the user. Entities within this 6-block range are forced to drop metallic items equipped in the main hand or offhand slot. This gadget can effectively neutralize mobs that use metallic weapons, such as vindicators, vexes, and (zombified) piglins.
- Pulling in metallic entities
- Entities wearing metallic armor, iron golems, minecarts, and explosive pastries within a 12x12x12 cube centered around the comically large magnet user are pulled towards that user. Pulled entities are forcibly dismounted from whatever they are riding. In the case of minecarts, they drag their passengers with them. The user can drag those entities with them even when flying with an elytra; however, minecarts will not be able to keep up.
