During the 2010s and 2020s, fashion trends have been abundant, including the resurgence of vintage aesthetics, which have become popular again (think the rise of the hipster). It’s difficult to keep up with the fleeting nature of trends, but one of my personal favorites from this era has been the return of facial hair. From thick beards to styled mustaches, facial hair has undoubtedly been a positive addition to modern fashion, and I am unapologetically in favor of it. If you happen to be a skeptic or a facial hair detractor, allow me to showcase the wonders of facial hair through the game Minecraft.

1. Diggy, Diggy (Dwarf with Beard)

 

If you’re a Minecraft veteran like myself, you’ll likely recognize this skin. During the early days of Minecraft’s rise to fame, many YouTube channels gained popularity alongside the game. This era was marked by Let’s Play channels and parody music videos.

2. Treehugger Jim

Actually, discovering the true identity of the skin is more of an adventure for you to embark on. This particular skin portrays a comical and slightly eerie hippie character who I assume is Jim, a person who enjoys embracing trees. However, the skin is primarily a source of entertainment that allows you to proudly display your passionate admiration for beards in a humorous way.

3. Steampunk Guy with Mustache

This is yet another popular aesthetic that emerged in the last decade. Ever since I was introduced to the Steampunk genre, I’ve been absolutely enamored with it.

4. Old Man Mustache

As I age, I aspire to exude even a fraction of the charm displayed by this skin. Dressed in a breezy Hawaiian outfit, this elderly gentleman is absolutely rocking it. The combination of an unbuttoned shirt, stylish sunglasses, and comfortable sandals creates an ideal aesthetic for a retiree.

5. Epic Beard

It’s often observed that the most imposing and robust men tend to sport the most imposing and robust beards. For those who are internet history buffs or belong to the younger millennial generation, you may recall the popular YouTube channel, Epic Meal Time, from its early days. While I cannot confirm if this skin was created by DoggChamp to pay homage to the channel, it certainly bears resemblance to their signature style.

6. Farmstache

I’m having some difficulty pinpointing the exact elements that make this skin so appealing, but it’s safe to say that everything from the hat to the shoes is perfectly executed. The outfit and demeanor of this distinctive farmer exude a down-to-earth vibe that perfectly complements the skin’s color palette and overall style. The addition of a mustache, coupled with the exceptional attention to detail in the design, makes it an instant download for me. To be completely honest, this might just become my go-to skin and all-time favorite.

7. Notch

Notch has certainly had an intriguing journey, from designing the game to becoming a playable skin within it. Since selling Minecraft to Microsoft for a staggering 2.5 billion dollars in cash, I’m curious about what Notch has been up to. I like to imagine that he created this skin and uses it to play on servers under his own identity. Although this may be wishful thinking on my part, I’d like to entertain the possibility nonetheless.

8. Jesus with Beard

If this skin doesn’t tickle your funny bone, perhaps it’s time to upgrade your sense of humor. The thought of playing as Jesus in Minecraft is undeniably amusing, and donning a Jesus skin with a beard as impressive as this one never fails to make me burst out laughing.

9. Monocle Monopoly Man

Although it’s a common misconception that the Monopoly man wears a monocle, many of us believe that he should. To truly capture the essence of the 1920s monopoly, money-making, and business tycoon character, there are several key design elements that must be included. A top hat is a must, as is a monocle – despite the fact that he doesn’t actually wear one. And of course, a mustache is also essential.

10. Dwarven Beard Guy

The initial skin on this list had some dwarven elements, but Boscawinks’ creation embodies the essence of Dwarven design flawlessly. Occasionally, a skin with a subtle nod to dwarves won’t suffice. You want a skin so Tolkien, so quintessentially Dwarven that it immediately transports you to Middle Earth, has you speaking in a Scottish accent, and eager to battle orcs (or creepers).
