Utility Staffs Mod 1.12.2 (Too Many Epic Staffs To Choose From)
Utility Staffs Mod 1.12.2 adds a total of 30 staffs (46 counting the concrete ones individually), 19 blocks, 16 items, 10 structures, and two special mobs (not pictured here to keep them a secret) to your Minecraft world. This mod aims to keep a vanilla-like feeling while adding some special items.
Features:
There are many staffs included in this mod. Each of them has abilities for their main hand and offhand, usually some sort of movement. Each of these staffs falls into a special category depending on what their abilities are. You cannot use the abilities of two staffs at a time.
For almost all the staffs it is recommencement not to hold down right-click, as every time an ability is used, it takes durability.
The Staffs:
Basic Staffs:
- The first and primary group of staffs are the basic staffs. All of them have the same abilities, just the higher basic staffs have stronger uses. All the basic staffs do 1 less damage then their normal sword counterparts (except for the gold staff), and typically have just as much durability.
- All basic staffs have a jump boost ability in the main hand taking 5 durabilities per-use, and a fall distance reducing ability in the offhand using 3 durabilities.
- Stone, Andestite, Diorite, and Granite Staffs (Stone staff texture was updated in version 1.2.0):
- When in the main hand, these staffs give enough jump boost to jump up two blocks high.
- If the staff is in the offhand and right-clicked, it will reset fall distance to three blocks, allowing you to take big falls with much less damage.
- Warning: Because of how the stone staffs work it is not suggested to use the offhand ability wen jumping normally, as it can damage you even though you have only gone up 1 block
Iron Staff:
- The main hand gives the jump boost enough to reach three blocks upward.
- When used in the offhand, it resets fall distance to one block.
Diamond Staff:
- Main hand gives ump boost to get up four blocks
- Offhand resets fall distance to zero blocks.
- Emerald Staff (5 attack damage, 1,875 durabilities):
- Main hand gives jump boost to get up five blocks
- Offhand resets fall distance to -1 blocks. (Allows you to fall 4 blocks after use and still not be damaged.
Gold Staff:
- Main hand gives jump boost to get up six blocks
- Offhand resets fall distance to two blocks.
Burnt Coal Staff (4 attack damage, 320 durabilities):
- Main hand gives jump boost to get up two blocks
- Offhand resets fall distance to two blocks
- 10% chance to set targets on fire
Flint Staff (4.25 attack damage, 170 durabilities):
- Main hand gives jump boost to get up three blocks
- Offhand gives resets fall distance to one block
- 15% chance to give targets the bleeding effect
- Bleeding: Does damage at random intervals over time. Typically does less damage than wither or poison, but can kill like wither. Damages more often is the target is sprinting.
The Ice and Fire Staffs:
This category includes the ice and blaze staffs. (The blaze staff texture was updated in version 1.3.0, from its previous texture in 1.2.2.1 and below).
Ice Staff (4 attack damage, 175 durabilities):
- Main hand ability gives resistance 3 for 1.5 seconds, enough to greatly weaken one blow. (Costs 7 durability).
- The ice staff does not have a direct ability in the offhand, instead, it gives a passive that if you are ignited you will be extinguished and given fire resistance for 2.75 seconds, which costs 5 durabilities.
- Additionally, the ice staff gives enemies slowness upon hit. The Ice staff does not work while in the nether.
Blaze Staff (5.5 attack damage, 400 durabilities):
- Main hand ability gives 2.5 seconds of levitation 3 (Costs 5 durability).
- Offhand ability is a manual extinguish, costing 15 durabilities and giving fire resistance for 2.5 seconds.
- The blaze staff ignites enemies on hit. The Blaze staff does not work during rain or thunder.
Higher Dimensional Staffs:
The two higher-dimensional staffs are the Wither and Dragon staffs. Both passively regenerate durability while in their respective dimensions.
Staff of the Wither (7 attack damage, 1,500 durabilities):
- Main hand ability gives levitation 5 for 2.8 seconds, and if you take the opportunity right after using the ability, you are given jump boost 6 for a short window of time.
- In the offhand, you are given invisibility for 5 seconds, speed 3 for 2.5 seconds and one seconds of extremely high resistance. Your fall distance is also reset to -10 blocks allowing you to fall bout 13 blocks after using the ability without taking any fall damage.
- The wither staff grants enemies with wither on hit.
- Wither Rage Passive: When below 50% health, you gain speed 3, jump boost 1 and strength 1.
- Wither Fury Passive: When at 25% health, you gain speed 5, jump boost 2 and strength 2.
Staff of the Dragon (8.5 attack damage, 2,400 durabilities):
- Main hand ability gives speed 10 for 0.7 seconds costing 5 durability. If you are crouching and you use the main hand ability you will instead gain jump boost 12 for a moment gaining a huge leap (Costs 7 durability).
- In the offhand, a right-click gives speed 2 for 15 seconds, and resets fall distance to -50 blocks.
The Specialty Staffs:
The two speciality staffs are the lapis and redstone staffs, which each specialize in a certain aspects of the game. (Lapis specializes in XP, while redstone specializes in mobility/mining).
Lapis staff (4 attack damage, 50 durabilities):
When in the main hand, you are given a passive ability that grants a 50% chance that a mob hit by the staff will drop an xp orb worth 1 xp.
In the offhand, a righ click gives 15 seconds of night vision, costing 5 durabilities.
The lapis staff can be repaired by 1 durability every time it is right-clicked on a bookshelf, with a 5% chance of destroying the bookshelf, splitting it into 3 planks, 2 paper and 1 book.
Redstone Staff (4 attack damage, 115 durabilities):
When in the main hand a right-click grants the player with jump boost 3 for a second, costing 3 durabilities. If crouching, the amount is instead increased to jump boost 10 costing 5 durability.
As the offhand ability, you are given 15 seconds of haste 1 for 7 durabilities.
The Health Staffs:
Currently, the only health staff is the Golden Apple Staff, to make it quicker this staff’s abilities will be greatly simplified.
Golden Apple Staff (6 attack damage, 750 durabilities):
- (This staff must be found and cannot be crafted):
- Main hand: 15 seconds of speed 2 and 30 seconds of haste 2 (25 durability cost).
- Main hand (Crouching): Restores about 1/4 hunger bar (20 durability cost).
- Offhand: 30 seconds of absorption 2 (50 durability cost).
- Offhand (Crouching): 1 minute of health boost 3, and 5 seconds of regeneration 1 (140 durability cost).
The Aquatic Staffs:
Currently, there is only one aquatic staff.
Prismarine Staff (5 attack damage, 500 durabilities):
- Main hand: 5% chance for an attacked mob to drop a fish (Chances: 45% Cod, 40% Salmon, 10% Puffer fish, 5% Clown fish) (In the nether cooked versions of cod and salmon drop instead of the raw versions) (Does not consume extra durability unless a cooked version was dropped, then 1 extra durability is consumed.).
- Offhand: 20 seconds of water breathing and night vision.
The Defensive Staffs:
Currently, there is only one defensive staff.
Obsidian Staff (5 attack damage, 1,000 durabilities):
- A right-click in the main hand gives resistance 2 for 15 seconds, at the cost of 40 durability.
- While in the offhand, you are given a passive resistance 1 for 2 seconds at a time, costing 8 durabilities every time the effect is applied. (The effect is only given if you do not have resistance if have used the main hand ability or are near a resistance beacon this effect will not activate to conserve durability). (A full durability obsidian staff will last a little over 4 minutes when in the offhand).
The Duo Glowstone Staffs:
There are two glowstone staffs, the blazing glowstone staff and the frosted glowstone staff.
Both Staffs:
- Mainhand: Gives jump boost 3 for a second, and levitation 1 for 2.5 seconds.
- Offhand: Resets fall distance to 0 blocks, costing 3 durability.
- Effects targets they hit with glowing.
- In addition, the blazing glowstone staff ignites enemies, while the frosted glowstone staff slows them.
- These two staffs are the only two that can be used at the same time. Upon right-clicking with one of each (either hand works), you will be granted with speed 1, night vision and elemental rage for 1 minute. Elemental rage makes it so the two effects of the staffs are combined, and using either staff with grant targets they hit with glowing and slowness 3 while igniting them. (Costs 54 Durability). While elemental rage is active and both staffs are being held, a more powerful version of the main hand and offhand abilities can be used. (If the frosted staff is in the main hand you get a higher level of levitation [Levitation 3], and in the offhand, the fall distance is reset to -5 blocks [Both abilities take the same amount of durability as normal]).
The Mob Staffs:
- There is currently one mob staff, “The Weaver”
- The Weaver (4.5 attack damage 230 durability):
- Main hand: Jump boost to get up 4 blocks
- Offhand: If right-clicked on a cobweb, drops it in item form. If right-clicked while crouching, consumes it and repairs 5 durabilities.
The Meteorite Staffs:
There is only one of three meteorite staffs in the game right now
Overworld Meteorite Staff:
- Mainhand: Speed 10 and jump boost to get up 6 blocks
- Offhand: If raining, strikes self with lightning (gives resistance enough to not take damage from it), then gives speed 3, jump boost 2, and night vision for 20 seconds.
- When thundering, there is a 25% chance to strike lightning on hit enemies.
- Regenerates durability while it is raining, and the durability regen is greater when it is thundering.
Naturally Generated Structures:
The Forge: 0.5 Chance of spawning underground, contains the golden apple staff and requires a diamond pickaxe to get through the layer of obsidian encasing it.
Frosted Cavern: 1% chance of spawn in a desert, entrance spawn above ground, and leads to the cave underground.
Blazing Cavern: 1% spawn chance underground in an ocean or deep ocean biome. Occasionally spawn poking out of the seafloor.
Meteorite Spring: 1% chance anywhere where grass blocks are.
